What do you see when you look upon my generation?
Do you see the good? Do you see nothing but bad things?
Or perhaps, you see a mix of both?
Do you hold hope for us?
When I was a child I used to see teenagers walk the streets
I would think to myself one day I would join them
I would become someone.
Years later, I've come to realize
How reality twists our blurry vision.
I am a teenager, and I look at the youth of today.
I see corruption.
I smell destruction
I hear damnation
I can taste the change in the winds of the new generations after me.
Our generation has found a way
To corrupt purity that is music
Destroy the beauty of writing and poetry
In replace of something flashy with a dollar sign.
Love is tossed around like anyones business
There is no meaning anymore
Only words and how they sound.
When I think of Teen Spirit
I think of High School
I've been here for four FULL years
I've made countless friends
lost countless more
Drama like I had never dreamed of
Love like I had never imagined
Experiences that I never thought I'd be lucky enough to have
Four years of my life I can never take back.
They've taken me
Changed me
I will never be the same.
Yet,
When I leave.
You won't remember a thing about me.
Nothing will stand out.
There will be no flashbacks,
No reunions, no communication.
I will cease to exist to you.
There will be no legacy left behind.
Simply a name, and an empty space
For the next generation to fill in.
